1992:  The Soviet Union has just collapsed, and the country of Georgia is impoverished and riddled with crime and corruption.  20-year-old Dina is trying to navigate university and a relationship with her best friend Nika when she comes face to face with an ancient Georgian tradition- bride kidnapping.  The life she had planned is torn out from under her feet, and she has to try to pick up the pieces as best she can. 

 

2018:  Reeling from a breakup with her longtime boyfriend and trying to decide what she wants to do with her life, Callie decides to take a leave of absence from her high-stress job in San Fransisco and spend three months volunteering at a guesthouse in the mountains of the Republic of Georgia.  What she thinks will be merely a summer adventure ends up completely shifting her world, making her reexamine who she is and what she believes and who she loves.  At the guesthouse, Callie uncovers long-hidden family secrets, almost bringing everything crumbling down.
